Funeral services with full military honors for Allen F. Derushia, 79 of 9 Laurel Terrace, will be held Tuesday November 24, 2009 at 11: OO AM the Hammill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jackson Shatraw presiding. Interment will follow with full military honors at St. Patrick's Cemetery, Brasher Falls. Allen entered into rest Friday afternoon with his family at his side. Calling hours will be held Monday (November23, 2009) from 2-4 and 6-8 at the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop. Allen was born on February 3, 1930, in the town of Raymondville the son of the late Orvis J. McComber and Clara Derushia. He received his education through the local rural school. December 4, 1951 he joined the United States Army, in Syracuse, while in the Army he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. December 7, 1953, he was honorably discharged in Ft Devens, Mass. Allen united into marriage with Doreen M. LaMora on April 17, 1954, at the Methodist Parsonage in Potsdam, Doreen passed away February 18, 2008. . Allen retired in 1998 from the St. Lawrence County Highway Dept. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Stephen and Janet Derushia of Nicholville, David Derushia of Winthrop; two daughters and son-in-laws, Mrs. Thomas(Dew) Derushia Rushlow of Massena; and Mrs. Robert(Cindy) Derushia Whitehead of Portland, Tennessee; 36 grandchildren 44 great grandchildren; two sisters Elizabeth Ashlaw of South Carolina, and Belva LaMora of Walcott, NY. Also surviving Allen is his good friend Mildred Stowe, Massena. He is predeceased by his sister Doris LaComb Memorial Contributions in Allen's memory may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley.
