Additional Obit Info
Dickinson Center - Stephen Kenneth Ploof, 64, passed away March 13, 2015. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Stephen was born on September 25, 1950 in Malone, daughter of Kenneth L and June E. (Rogers) Ploof. He graduated from St. Regis Falls High School and proudly served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War. He went to work at Reynolds Metals in Massena, also operating his own construction company and Adirondack Sanitation. He retired from Reynolds in 2000.
Stephen was industrious, with his career experiences being wide-ranged over the years. He put his heart into everything he did. He enjoyed conversations with friends and family; with a stranger just being a friend he hadn't met. Stephen held the blessing of his daughter, whom he loved so very much, close to his heart. Stephen was a member of the St. Regis Falls Sportsman's Club and the Red Tavern Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy LaPage of Keeseville; his mother, June Ploof of Malone; two brothers, Roger and Maria of Albany and Bruce and Donna of Dickinson Center; one sister, Kamie and Lee Hazen of Nicholville; several nieces and nephews. Steve was predeceased by his father, Kenneth L. Ploof on March 30, 1998.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Graveside services will be held in the spring at Fairview Cemetery in Dickinson.
Memories and condolences can be shared with his family at www.hammillfh.com.

My deepest heart felt sympathy goes out to the Ploof family. Steve was a good guy, witty, hard worker, devoted American, best brother in law ever, and a valued friend. Steve loved to socialize, laugh and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was a person who help anyone who reached out to him. I believed he loved his family and I will miss seeing his smiling face and his strong hugs when I visit my hometown. May you rest in peace.

To Steve's family: I've known Steve all my life. He was always a good friend, regardless of what was going on in his personal life. If he could help you out in your time of need he'd be there. His life seemed to spiral in a downward motion, after his marriage failed. I'm sure he had more than his share of regrets, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a good person, with many great attributes that I for one will always admire. His smile could light up a room, and those handsome good looks, grabbed your attention. He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed a good joke.I will miss his presence at The Red Tavern, and just seeing him in passing, as he always waved. I hope he is at peace. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!
