Liverpool - Mrs. Joan N. Hurley 91, of Park Rose Estates, formerly of Colton, NY, passed away peacefully at the University Hospital in Syracuse on May 4, 2015. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. On February 13, 1924 Joan was born in North Lawrence, daughter of the late Frank B. and Ann Mahoney (Normile). She attended Mercy School of Nursing in Watertown earning her degree as a Registered Nurse. A WWII Veteran, Mrs. Hurley served in the US Army Nurse Corps as a 1st Lt. from 1945-47. Joan married Timothy J. Hurley Jr. on May 22, 1952 at St. Andrews Church in Norwood. They shared a blessed union of 54 years before his death on September 21, 2006. She is survived by two sons: James (Stacey) Hurley of Oswego, and Stephen (Mary) Hurley of Baldwinsville, three daughters: Ellen Hurley of Collinsville, OK., Jane (Thomas) Gilbert of Liverpool, and Nancy Hurley of Burlington, VT.; six grandchildren; two brothers: Robert (Joyce) Normile of North Lawrence, and Jack (Joy) Normile of Brasher Falls; two sisters: Eileen Burns of Malone, and Therese (Charles) Kelly of Ogdensburg, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be Friday, May 8th from 10-11:15am with Joan's Mass of Christian Burial and funeral service to be celebrated at 12:00 noon at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls with Rev. Garry Giroux. Burial will follow at St. Patrick Cemetery in Brasher Falls. For those wishing to express an act of kindness, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Joan's honor to: St. Joseph the Worker Food Pantry, 1001 Tulip St. Liverpool, NY 13088 or your local food pantry.
