Obituary of David J. Susice, Sr.
St. Regis Falls – David J. Susice, Sr., 74, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, May 10, 2015 at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
David was born in Santa Clara on January 26, 1941, son of the late Bert and Jennie (Cramer) Susice and graduated from St. Regis Falls High School. On July 15, 1961, he married Nancy E. Sexton at Holy Name Catholic Church in Tupper Lake; with whom he shared 47 loving years. Nancy passed away on February 19, 2008.
David was a Cement Mason, working across the country. They made their home in Niagara Falls, Arizona, Oregon, Pennsylvania, and Washington, moving back to the Adirondacks in 1970. After he retired from masonry, he went to work at St. Regis Falls Central School, the position from which he retired. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, St. Regis Falls Fire Dept., and the St. Regis Falls Sportsman’s Club. He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church, also belonging to the St. Ann’s Society. He enjoyed family vacations and had a special love of the desert. He built the home that he lived in and was handy at keeping his home up to his standards. He prided himself with his children and grandchildren, bestowing them with his knowledge, craftsmanship and love. He also was very dedicated St. Ann’s Church and spent many hours volunteering.
He is survived by his children; David and Deborah Susice of Winthrop, Wendy and Brian McIntoshof Canton, Jill Susice of St. Regis Falls and Bruce Sexton of St. Regis Falls, his grandchildren; Callie Jo McIntosh, Baily Jaiden McIntosh, Cohl Brian McIntosh and Marcus Andrew and Meaghan Susice, his siblings; Jennie Wait of Malone, Irene Marsh of Moira, Shirley and Harold Mushtare of St. Regis Falls, Jackie Malony of Aiken, SC, and Joan and Kerry Orcutt of Spokane, WA, many nieces and nephews. Six brothers, Albert, Francis, Homer, Lawrence”Woody”, Robert and Jerry, predeceased him.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. David’s Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 11 am at St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls, with burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
