Obituary of Kevin J. Weller
Brasher Falls – Kevin J. Weller, 48, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, May 28, 2015, at Canton – Potsdam Hospital. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Kevin was born on July 12, 1966 in Potsdam, son of Gerald Bernard and Gloria A. (Planty) Weller. He graduated from Potsdam Central School in 1984 and then from SUNY @ Canton in 1986 with a degree in Business Administration. At one time, Kevin was married to Lisa Avery, who blessed him with his son, Michael Weller. A marriage to Nancy Smith ended in divorce. He met his life companion, Sally Reed-Mulvana, whom he shared a loving relationship and was blessed with the birth of their daughter, Leah Faith Weller in 2011.
He was ambitious by nature; starting work at the age of 12 with NY Periodicals, Clarkson College, as a mason-tender for East Part Construction, Regional Manager for Combined Life Insurance Company, then started Northern Merchant Services, Weller Angus, Weller Enterprises and Compliance Payments Solutions. An outdoorsman; Kevin was an avid hunter (deer, coon and coyote), loved to take the kids fishing, or just spending time at camp. He could always be seen at his son's sporting events. Kevin was a member of the Coon Hunters Association.
Kevin worked hard for all the things he thought were important in life. He was full of love and laughter and would show his singing talent when the time was right. He loved music, for it was a source of solace to him. He was very knowledgeable and was often sought out for advice by family, friends and acquaintances. He was proud of being a good provider and treasured get-togethers, dinners with friends and community functions. Above all else, Kevin's family was his world and there was nothing he wouldn't do for them.
He is survived by his companion, Sally, two children, Michael Weller and Leah Faith Weller, both of Brasher Falls, his mother, Gloria Weller and her companion, Arnold Fefee of Potsdam, his brother, Terry Weller and his companion Tammy LaShomb of Potsdam, his sister, Lori Snyder and her companion, David Green of Norfolk, a nephew, Christopher Snyder and a niece, Allison Snyder. Kevin was predeceased by his father, Gerald Bernard Weller, and his grandparents, Leah and Harold Planty and Bernard and Gladys Weller.
Visitation will be held Monday from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Kevin's Celebration of Life and Funeral Service will be Tuesday at 11 am at Knapps Station Community Church, 3035 County Route 47, Norwood with Rev. Lee Sweeney officiating.
