Winthrop- Mrs. Jennie L. George, 81, passed away Saturday October 10, 2015 in the comfort of her home surrounded by the love and support of her family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Jennie was born in Winthrop on September 18, 1934 to the late Fred and Anna (Villnave) Lazore. She was raised locally and attended the Brasher Falls- Stockholm School.
On May 9, 1959 Jennie married Keith George at a little church in Nicholville with Pastor Wilbert Hull. Truly compatible with one another, Jennie and Keith shared a marriage dedicated to each other and their family; built upon faith and love for a blessed 57 years.
Jennie started work as a nurses aid at Pilgrim State Hospital and then onto Massena Memorial Hospital where she was a ward clerk; working in central supply for 20 years, respectfully for 32 years at MMH.
Family meant the world to Jennie. She especially enjoyed holiday gatherings and time spent at family celebrations. She was always caring for and thinking of others before herself, a true matriarch of her family that will be greatly missed.
She took pleasure in trips to the casino and her western music. Jennie was a dedicated member of the Red Hats, Quad Town Senior Citizens, and TOPS.
She is survived by her husband and soul mate, Keith, her children: Bryan George and Scott George of Hermon, Judy George of Winthrop, Sally and John Sauvie of Massena, her adopted daughter, Arlene Clark of North Lawrence, and ex- son-in-law Hughey Blain of North Lawrence, 3 grandsons: Brandon George, Kevin Blain, and Steven Clark, 4 great-grandchildren: Xavier, Gunner, Christopher, and Damien, a sister, Katherine Roatch of St. Regis Falls, nephew, Greg (Karen) George of Pierrepont, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Always close to Jennie's heart is the memory of those who predeceased her: her daughter, Karen George, son, Steven George, granddaughter, Carin Alice Blain, and brothers Fred and John Lazore.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8. Jennies Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be Wednesday at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Winthrop Cemetery.
For those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions may be made in Jennie's honor to Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley Inc.
Memories and condolences may be shared with her family at www.hammillfh.com.

May Jennie's family and friends be comforted by God’s promise to “swallow up death forever…and wipe away the tears from all faces” (Isaiah 25:8). Along with the promise of a time soon when ‘no resident will say ” I am sick” (Isaiah 33:24) “Remember the Resurrection hope for both righteous and unrighteous” (Acts 24:15) You can find more Inspirational information for comfort and peace needed at this sorrowful time at JW.ORG- This has helped many find peace and deal with deaths effects on the living.
