Helena - Daniel W. Dishaw, 73, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Thursday, October 22, 2015. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Following his wishes; there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held Monday November 2 at 11:00am at Carville Cemetery in Helena. Born on July 23, 1942 in Massena, Daniel is the son of the late Leon and Margaret (Tiernan) Dishaw. He honorably served his country in the U. S. Army from 1964 - 1966 during the Vietnam Era. He married Jacqueline Hewlett on October 15, 1966 at St. Patrick Church in Hogansburg with Monsignor Dwyer celebrating. They shared 49 years of mutual love and respect. Daniel worked from 1965 to 1979 at ALCOA when he decided to focus his efforts on his dairy farm. His time on the farm also included raising and training horses. He was a member of the St. Lawrence Valley Horsemen's Association, the Center Riding Club, and was a communicant of St. Patrick Church in Hogansburg. Daniel was a patient, kind-hearted, teacher and mentor to his children, grandchildren and friends. He loved to have his family together at his home. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, two daughters and sons in law, Valerie and Jarrod Jacobs of Hogansburg, Vicki and Robert Derouchie of Brasher Falls, one son and daughter in law, Leon and Melissa Dishaw of Helena, two sisters, Sally LaVare of Brasher Falls and Kay and Franklin Eldridge of Massena, one brother, Leland and Audrey Dishaw of Massena, eight grandchildren, Dominique, Reese, Colby, Trinity, Madeline, Danica, Wylee and Jayse, many nieces and nephews. One grandson, Jay Dalton Dishaw and two brothers, Fred and Larry, predeceased him.
