Obituary of Gloria A. Jenks
Gloria A. Jenks, 69, of Cooks Corners, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on November 15, 2015 at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
As per her wishes there will be no services. There will be a graveside service in the spring at the family’s convenience for Gloria and her husband, Ronald, who predeceased her.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Gloria was born on October 12, 1946 in Potsdam to the late Warren and Elizabeth Gibson. She was the youngest of five children.
After graduating from Potsdam Central School in 1965, Gloria went on to become a licensed practical nurse.
Her employment involved local medical institutions including Charlebois Nursing Home, Potsdam and United Helpers Nursing Home, Potsdam and Canton.
On May 3, 1966 Gloria married the love of her life, Ronald B. Jenks. Their forty-eight year marriage was filled with many happy days and most of all, love. Ronald passed away in November 2014.
Surviving Gloria are her three children; Cathy Whalen, Joanne Lincoln and her husband, Kevin, and Fay Jenks and his wife, Aliza; her grandchildren, Layci Williamson and her husband, Alex, Bryan Lincoln and his fiancé, Megan, Chelsea Whalen and her boyfriend, Casey, Josh Legault, Tyler Legault and his girlfriend, Miranda, Bryson Jenks, Summer Jenks, Katie Jenks, Savanna Jenks, Korin Burnsed and her husband, Bryan, and Stephanie Magrisi and her husband, Matt; and her great-grandchildren, Hailey, Grace, Skyelar, Brayden, Nathan, Jacob, Liliana, and another on the way to be born in May 2016.
She is also survived by her brother, Warren Gibson and his wife, Helen; and her sisters, Mary Lunderman, Fern Austin and her husband Carol, and Marion Russell; and several nieces and nephews.
Gloria enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and pampering her animals, which included a flock of chickens which had recently adopted her.
We, the family, extend our thanks and gratitude to the doctors and staff of Canton-Potsdam Hospital for the care and comfort they gave our mother in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the St. Lawrence County SPCA, Potsdam Animal Shelter or the Pierrepont Volunteer Fire Department.
