Obituary of Linda K Shattuck
Winthrop- Ms. Linda K. Shattuck, 70, passed away peacefully Monday April 11, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Linda was born in Potsdam on December 26, 1945 to the late Lester M. and Dorothy E. (Rockwood) Crump. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from St. Lawrence Central High School.
From an early age Linda was always a hard worker. Growing up along with her 15 siblings, Linda helped on the family farm. Her dedicated work ethic followed her through life and for many years she took care of the housekeeping for various businesses and homes in the community; lastly she was employed at the St. Lawrence Centre Mall in Massena.
Linda fully enjoyed the outdoors, especially feeding and watching the birds, playing softball when she was younger and most of all spending time playing with her grandchildren. It was no secret that Linda’s grandchildren were her world; she cared for them, cuddled them, scolded them, and loved them, but primarily, she spoiled them. On her mail box it states “Grandkids spoiled here” as she knew it and was proud of it.
She is survived by her children: James “Jim” and Maria Shattuck of Brasher Falls, Maurice Shattuck and his companion Tammy Kellison of Brasher Falls, and Peggy Cruz of Winthrop, her grandchildren: Jessi, James II, Margarita, Xavier, Maurice Jr., Bryan, Sarah, Cloey, Tori, Katelyn, Greig Jr., and Luis, and her great-grandchildren: Carter, Kayden, Zayden, and Tanner. Survivors also include her 3 brothers and sister-in-law, Jim Crump of Winthrop, Donald Crump of Watertown, and Mark and Vicki Crump of Winthrop, 2 sisters, Sylvia Snyder of Winthrop and Lillian Cuthbert or Norwood and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her brothers: Maurice, Jerome, Thomas, Robert, Michael, and Gary Crump, and her sisters: Marie Ramsdell, Beulah Foster, Patricia Foster, and Carol Foster.
Visitation will be Friday from 1-3 and 5-7pm. Linda’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be at the conclusion of visitation at the Hammill Funeral Home with Certified Celebrant, Julia O’Brien.
