St. Regis Falls - Verick "Mickey" James DeCarr, passed away peacefully May 14, 2016. Mickey, raised by his mother Nettie DeCarr became prom King in High School, then had to conquer polio as a young adult. He lost a brother, Seymour DeCarr in World War II, but he joined the U. S. Army to serve in the Korean War and was honorably discharged.
He then received a degree in business from Canton College and went to work at ALCOA in Massena. In 1959, he became employed at General Motors Plant in Massena where he retired as the parts crib 4 o'clock shiftworker. He was proud to be a U.A.W. #465 employee.
He turned to politics during his retirement and for many years, served as a Town of Waverly Councilman. He was a proud member of the American Legion in St. Regis Falls and never missed Memorial Day ceremonies.
Mickey was a die-hard NY Yankee and Syracuse Orange fan, watching all their games.
His greatest love was is family and the time spent with them. Ther are not enough superlative to describe Verick "Mickey" DeCarr. He was a wonderful person who will be sadly missed but never forgotten by all who knew him.
He will be forever missed by sons; Terry and his wife, Linda of Bangor, Ritchie of St. Regis Falls, Mickey and his wife Michele of Virginia, Danny of Chicago and Christopher of Williamsville; daughter Karisha and husband, Sawhill Ahuja of Williamsville and in particular his daughter and son in law, Michelle and Robert Byno of Saranac Lake for the care and assistance during the last few years. He was predeceased by his parents Nettie (Catura) DeCarr and Samuel DeCarr, his sister, Audrey Laramay and his brothers, Seymour and Prescott DeCarr.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. His Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 10 am at St. Ann's Church in St. Regis Falls, followed by burial with military honors in the parish cemetery.

Michelle, Bob and the DeCarr family. We were so saddened to learn of Mickey's passing. Our hearts go out to you during this time of loss. He was a wonderful man and we will miss seeing him at the nursing home. Fred sends his love and misses him too. God bless. Mike and Ruth.
