North Lawrence-It is with deep sadness that Mr. John D. Butler, 22, passed away Saturday August 20th, 2016 after his injuries sustained during an automobile accident. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. John was born in Winchester, MA, on November 2, 1993 to Cheryl (Smith) Dissottle and Eugene L. Dissottle II. He was raised and educated locally, graduating from St. Lawrence Central High School in 2013. John loved sports and throughout high school showed his Larrie pride, by participating in football and lacrosse and cheering on his classmates at other sporting events. He was a loyal New England Patriots and Boston Bruins fan. He also had a love for hunting, fishing, and target shooting. John was a dedicated and hard worker. He worked as a farmhand at Stauffer’s Farms taking care of various duties. Johnny was a good kid; always looking out for others and there to lend a helping hand when needed. He had the ability to make people laugh and always enjoyed times spent with his family and friends. He had a special relationship with his nieces; he loved to pick on them and torture them, but they adored him for it and loved him regardless. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. John is survived by his mother, Cheryl A. (Smith) Dissottle of North Lawrence and his father, Eugene Dissottle II of Brasher Falls, his sister, Danielle Dissottle of Winthrop, and his brother Derek Dissottle and fiancé Mackenzie Bice of Hanawa, his grandmother Margaret Smith of North Lawrence, grandmother Frieda Dissottle of Massena and his grandfather Eugene L. Dissottle of Winthrop, his 5 nieces who he cherished: Riley and Cheyanne Gibson, Payslee and Harper Dissottle, and Lailah Ramsdell, his girlfriend, Markie Ramsdell of Winthrop, and close friend of the family, Kristeen Root of Potsdam. Survivors also include several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. John was predeceased by a sister, Kayla Jean Dissottle on January 31, 1991, and his grandfather Robert Smith. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8 at the funeral home. John’s Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be Thursday at 10:00am at the Hammill Funeral Home with Rev. Alfred Fish.
