Obituary of Gerald "Junior" F Martin

St. Regis Falls- Mr. Gerald F. "Junior" Martin, 78 passed away on August 25, 2016 at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh surrounded by the love and comfort of his family. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Junior was born in the Town of Waverly on March 24, 1938 to the late Gerald E. and Laura (Brabon) Martin. He was raised and educated locally. On September 11, 1960 he married Nancy Greene. They shared a blessed and dedicated union of 56 years built upon hard work, love, and family. For many years Junior worked as a welder and machinist for the Franklin County Highway Department. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. Junior was a true family man, blessed with a large family and was proud of it. He thought the world of his grandkids and great-grandkids and was happiest when surrounded by his family and friends. A true blessing however, was at the beginning of August when Junior was able to attend the Martin-Greene family reunion; seeing everyone there brought him a lot of happiness during a trying time. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, and their children: Jerry (Sherry) Martin, Terri (Randal) Morris, Krise Martin, Dorie (George) Martin, Lorrie (Kenneth) Palmer, Melanie Martin, and Kelly (Mark) Baldwin, his foster son, Ellwood Fadden, grandchildren: Jerad (Vaneza), Seth, Brandon, Merissa, Logan (Mande) Devon, Connor, Zachary (Alanni), Blake, and Brannigan, and his great-grandchildren: Brayson, Nolan, Thea, Myah, Kora, Ari'onna, Suvellyn. He is also survived by his brother Leon (Ruth) Martin, and 2 sisters, Geraldine Godreau and Marion Szarka. Calling hours will be Saturday from 11am to 1pm with a Memorial Service being celebrated at 1:00pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Flowers are gratefully declined. For those wishing to express an act of kindness memorial contributions may be made to the Brushton-Moria United Methodist Church or the Church Food Pantry.
