Massena- Mr. Jay F. McCarthy passed away Wednesday September 28, 2016; earning his rest on his 43rd birthday, surrounded by the love and support of his family.

Jay was born in Massena on September 28, 1973 to John "Jack" and Cheryl (Beaulieu) McCarthy. He was raised and educated locally graduating from St. Lawrence Central High School in 1992. After graduation, Jay proudly served his country in the US NAVY earning an honorable discharge in 1996. He also attended Diving School where he earned his degree in underwater mechanics.
For some time Jay worked at Michelex Plastics in Massena but most recently worked as a Supervisor for the Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation.
Those who knew and loved Jay will always remember his outgoing and energetic spirit; some might even say he was an adrenaline junky. Jay had a passion for the outdoors and any activity that went along with it; from boating and hunting to downhill skiing and skydiving, he was always up for an adventure.
All though he had a passion for the outdoors, Jay's children, family and friends were his greatest joy. Whether out on the water or at a family gathering, he was his happiest when surrounded by his friends and loved ones. Jay had an infectious smile and a compassionate heart. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jay is survived by: his daughter, Jessica McCarthy and her companion Shawn Patrick of Rome, son, Dillon McCarthy of Brasher Falls, father, Jack and Carla McCarthy of Winthrop, his soul mate and companion Sue McGregor of Massena, sister Jacqueline Sharlow of Norwood, 2 brothers, John and Kimberly McCarthy of Norfolk, and Joie and Kelly McCarthy of Brasher Falls, and his nieces and nephews: Lance, Shane, Peter, Megan, Emily, and Jayden.
Jay was predeceased by his mother, Cheryl (Beaulieu) Brin, his nephew Cory Sharlow who passed away on January 16, 2016 and his sister, Cheri (McCarthy) Carlson who passed away on April 18, 2016.
