North Lawrence- Mrs. Pearl M. Jock, 87, passed away Tuesday October 4, 2016 at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital surrounded by her family. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Pearl was born in Westville on March 30, 1929, daughter of the late Lawrence and Violet (Gratton) Mitchell. She was predeceased by her husband Orlin Jock on August 12, 1982. In earlier years, Pearl enjoyed helping many families of the local communities with wall papering, painting and house cleaning. She also was a very dedicated employee, working at Potsdam State and Clarkson College for a total of 35 years. She took pride and enjoyed raising her children and grandchildren, and cherished family gatherings when everyone was together. In her leisure time she took pleasure in gardening and word search puzzles. Pearl is survived by her 3 sons and their wives: Wayne and Karen Jock of Brasher Falls, Gary and Gloria Jock of Lyons Falls, and Gordon and Mary Jane Jock of St. Regis Falls, 6 grandchildren: Kevin Jock, Stacy Jock, Ryan Jock, Renee MacDermott, Katie McLear, Kristin Pirozzi, 2 step-grandchildren: Brett Downs and Leah Van Note, 7 brothers: Lester (Doreen)Mitchell, Lawrence (Sharon) Mitchell, James (Nancy) Mitchell, Kenny Mitchell, John (Beverly) Mitchell, Roger Mitchell, Gene (Cindy) Mitchell, Leon (Geri) Mitchell, 5 sisters: Lorina Denny, Margaret Grant, Leona LaBrake, Isabelle (George) Jerome, and Clara Murray, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her brothers: Carl, Roy, Webster, Leo, Paul, and a sister Lilliana Wolfe. Calling hours will be Friday from 4-7pm. Pearl's Funeral Service and Celebration of Life will be Saturday morning at 10:00 at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop with Certified Celebrant Julia O'Brien. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in North Lawrence. For those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions may be made in Pearl's honor to the Tri-Town Rescue Squad.
