Cranberry Lake - William F. Streeter, Jr., 79, passed away at his home, Wednesday, July 14, 2010. Mr. Streeter was born on May 27, 1931 in Cranberry Lake, son of the late William F. and Hazel Dennison Streeter, Sr. He graduated from Madrid Waddington High School in 1949 and enlisted in the U. S. Army. He came home on leave and married Lillian L. Gascon on December 9, 1953 at the Waddington U. M. Church. While serving in Vietnam, he was shot and later was awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star "V" for heroism in ground combat. In 1967, he retired from the U. S. Army and went to work for several companies; Chambers Ford Tractor in Pinebush, Case Tractor Equipment in Pinebush; C-Tech in Ogdensburg, Mitel Industries in Canada, North Country Auto Parts in Canton and Ogdensburg and Crossman Auto Parts in Syracuse. Always ready to help others, he was a member of the Hopkinton - Ft. Jackson Fire Department and volunteered with the St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Dept., Citizens Patrol. He was a member of the Caleb Butler Lodge in Ayer, MA. He took enjoyment with the animals on his hobby farm and nightly visits with his family. Mr. Streeter is survived by his children, Jerry Streeter of North Lawrence, Joyce and Emmett Duprey of Cranberry Lake; 6 grandchildren, Nicole LaShomb, Katrina Trimm, Amanda Green, Jerry Streeter, Christie Redd, and Billy Duprey; 6 great grandchildren, Makenzie Green, Logan Frank, Johnny Redd, Hope LaShomb, Faith LaShomb, and Destiny LaShomb; one sister, Marilyn Loveless of Central Square; two brothers, Lyle and Jean Streeter and Dean and Edith Streeter, all of Waddington. His wife Lillian, three daughters, Linda Streeter, Joanne Trimm and Julie Streeter; brother Robert Haas and sister, Verna Blondin, all predeceased him. His family will receive friends at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, Saturday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8. Funeral services will be Monday at 1 pm at the First Congregational Church in Hopkinton. Burial will be in Hopkinton-Ft. Jackson Cemetery in Hopkinton. Those wishing to do so, please consider memorials in his name to the Cranberry Lake Volunteer Fire and Rescue, P. O.
