Obituary of Geraldine A. Lawrence
Geraldine Ann Hale Lawrence born on September 30, 1932 to Roscoe and Jennie Hale, died peacefully February 1st, 2017, surrounded by her family at Tidewell Hospice House, in Bradenton, FL. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop, NY.
She is survived by son Frederick and Geneva Lawrence, Bradenton, FL, and grandson Freddy Lawrence, wife Lysette, great granddaughter Giovanna, Lenox, MA; daughter Debra Lawrence Jackson, husband Dale, and grandson Daniel, Clearwater, FL. She is also survived by her sister, Evelyn Dwyer, Canton, NY; sister-in-law, Elva Lawrence Pritty, Gouverneur, NY, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her husband Philip "Fred" Lawrence in 2014; her sisters Virginia Hale Slack, Dorothy Hale Washburn, Barbara Hale Perry, Sally Hale Beamish, Patty Hale White, Alma Hale Beaudin, Beatrice Hale Podgurski, and brothers Lloyd Hale, Roscoe Hale, and William Hale.
Geraldine was born and grew up in the Potsdam area. She attended nursing school in Ogdensburg and left in 1954 to marry Fred, who at that time was her "pen pal". They were married 60 years. She returned to college in 1978 and became an RN. She retired from Hospice in 1998. She was involved in many clubs, and was best known for her caring nature toward anyone who needed help.
There will be a graveside service in the spring,on May 19th at 11 am at the Hale Cemetery, Knapps Station, with a luncheon after services, for friends and family.
