Nicholville - William R. "Wheels" LaVare, 56, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Bill is survived by his wife, Kirstie, his mother, Helen LaVare of North Lawrence, his sons, Dustin Woods and his fiancé, Miranda LaPage of Dickinson, Dawson LaVare of Nicholville, two grandchildren, Carson and Wyatt, his siblings, Rick and Mary Beth LaVare of LeRoy, Shelly Vincent and her fiancé, Andrew Bessette of Winooski, VT, Judy LaVare-DeShane of Massena, Amy LaVare and her fiancé Mark Titus of Crown Point and Mary LaVare and her fiancé, Darwin Mitchell of Moira, aunt and uncle, Kay and Gene Thomas, several nieces and nephews. William was born on March 15, 1960 in Malone, son of Joseph C. and Helen E. (St. Hilaire) LaVare. After high school, Bill went to Automotive Tech Training to pursue his love of motors. He worked for S & S Auto in Malone, Mahoney's in Potsdam and Blevin's Motors in Potsdam, as he started his own shop "Wheel's General Repair" in Nicholville. On July 19, 2003, he married Kirstie A. Adams in Parishville, sharing a loving union, filled with laughter and adventure. "Wheels" was a member of the Soul Seekers Brotherhood 315ers, with whom he found the peace of riding the roads on his Harley. He respected others and was highly respected in return. "Live to ride, ride to live". He was blessed with loving family, good friends and many memories made that will never be forgotten. Visitation will be held Sunday from 6 to 8 pm and Monday from 2 to 4 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. A Remembrance Gathering will be held Monday at 4 pm at the end of visitation. Donations in his memory can be made to the Nicholville Volunteer Fire Department or Hospice and Palliative Care of St. Lawrence Valley, Inc.
