Obituary of Myrtle J. Parkinson

Funeral services for Myrtle J. Parkinson, 79, of Massena, formerly of Ft. Jackson, will be Wednesday morning at 11 am at the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop with Rev. Sheila Nichols officiating. Friends may call at the Hammill Funeral Home, Tuesday from 6 to 8 pm. Burial will be in Hopkinton - Ft. Jackson Cemetery in Hopkinton. Myrtle passed away Monday, November 02, 2009 at Massena Memorial Hospital. She was born in Rome, NY, on June 15, 1930. As an orphan, she lived with the Fuller family until the age of 16, then she lived with the late Luke and Virginia McAllister. Luke and Virginia had to leave the area, so Elizabeth and the late Leland McAllister welcomed her into their home for 57 years. She is survived by Elizabeth McAllister and Vivian McAllister, both of Ft. Jackson; Betty's children, Jean and Welby LaPointe of Massena, Sheila Wagner of St. Regis Falls, Lee McAllister and Robert and Betsy McAllister, both of Ft. Jackson; Her "Grandchildren", Josh LaPointe, Philip Wagner, Jr., Brett Wagner, Benjamin McAllister and Jenae McAllister. One grandson, Cory McAllister, predeceased her. Myrtle was a very caring and giving person. Her family reflected how thrilled she was with the Yankees' in the World Series, and how she enjoyed watching baseball, Judge Judy and the Price is Right. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory can be made to the Nicholville United Methodist Church, Nicholville, NY 12965.
