Obituary of Pearl Vanderwalker
Malone/Santa Clara – Pearl Vanderwalker, 87, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Albany Medical Center. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Pearl was born on January 9, 1930 in Ellenburg, daughter of the late Edward and Emma (Robare) LaBarre. She married David Vanderwalker on February 11, 1950 at St. Patrick Church in Chateaugay. They loved and respected each other throughout their 57 years of marriage. David passed away April 4, 2007.
She took the time to serve as Justice of Peace for the Town of Santa Clara for a few years and was the Town Historian for Santa Clara for many years. Caring for her family and home was a priority in her life. Her common sense, selflessness, kindness, sense of humor and wisdom, were some of her finest attributes. She knew each of her children’s hearts, loved them all dearly, giving them advice that leaves a lasting impression on all her loved ones.
Pearl is survived by her three sons; David and Patricia Vanderwalker of Santa Clara, Charles and Bonnie Vanderwalker of Moira, John Vanderwalker of Heppner, OR, four daughters; Lynn Sarr of Fairport, Janice and John Rebstock of Gainesville, FL, Ann and Terry Baker of Chateaugay and Michele and Rolland Thomas of Merrill, 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, David, one son, Daniel, four brothers, Lawrence, Leonard, Frank and Donald LaBarre, three sisters, Mina Robare, Margaret Hall and Madora Peacock.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 16th at St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls at 11 am. Burial will follow in Santa Clara Cemetery.
