Obituary of Damon T. Skiff
St. Regis Falls- Damon T. Skiff, 74, passed away on December 22, 2017. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Damon was born in Malone on August 17, 1943, to the late Durward B. and Sadie I. (Emlaw) Skiff. Following his graduation from St. Lawrence Central High School, he proudly served his country in the United States ARMY active duty from 1961-64 and in the ARMY reserve from 1964-67, earning an honorable discharge.
In the late 60's, Damon moved to California. During the 70's and early 80's, he worked for Schmitz Development in Stockton, California, repairing and performing maintenance for the apartment buildings and the grounds. He then attended Humboldt State University in Arcada, California, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in science, majoring in environmental engineering.
After earning his degree, Damon became self-employed, working with solar installations and performing energy efficient property restorations.
Damon was gifted with a skilled hand and a diligent work ethic, creating projects of his own in his spare time as well as working on his family's homes.
He was a handyman who never kept idle. He particularly enjoyed wood working, hiking, and gardening.
Damon is survived by his sister, Darleen Taylor; his uncle, Bruce Skiff; and many cousins.
In keeping with Damon's wishes, there will be no services at this time. A Graveside service with Military Honors will be held June 12th at 10 am at Mound Hill Cemetery in Nicholville.
