Obituary of Ronald E. Moreau
Helena/Bombay- Mr. Ronald E. Moreau 73, passed away Thursday May 10, 2018 at the Massena Memorial Hospital with his wife and family at his side. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Ron was born in New Hampshire on October 30, 1944 to the late Norbert and Violet (Begnoche) Moreau. He received his early education in New Hampshire and finished at Alvern High School in Middlebury, VT before beginning work on his father’s dairy farm; where he eventually took over all operations.
He married Gail Rowland on October 21, 1967. After they were married Ron and Gail moved to the North Country and bought the farm where they still reside. The two shared in a dedicated union of 50 years and 6 months as true companions who led by example; always making family their priority.
For many years Ron operated his family dairy farm. After, together with his wife Gail they opened, owned and operated County-Line Greenhouse for 32 years. Starting small and working diligently up to 5 houses, people often wondered how they did so much, so well, with such little space.
Those who knew and loved Ron will remember how he was a great debater; especially when it came to politics and he never missed an opportunity to visit with friends. In earlier years he enjoyed camping. Ron’s greatest love in life was his family; a genuine patriarch who will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; children: Michelle and Harold Nason of Brasher Falls, Ronald Moreau and Karen Donie of Brasher Falls, Beth and Mark LaFlesh of Helena, Justin ‘Juddy’ and Brook Moreau of Brasher Falls, and Nicole Moreau and Rene´ Gutierrez of Sebring, FL.; 13 granddaughters; 5 grandsons; 2 great-granddaughters, plus 2 on the way; mother-in-law, Viola Westerberg of Orange City, FL.; siblings: Lorraine Lemire, Roland and Ruth Moreau all of Ocala, FL., Norman and Shirley Moreau of Irisburg, VT., Bob and Cynthia Moreau of Nashua, NH., Nancy LaVoie of Titusville, FL., Debbie and Chris Goodrich of Bridport, VT.; many nieces, nephews; and valued friends.
Besides his parents, Ron was predeceased by 2 bothers-in-law: Jon LaVoie and George Lemire.
Calling hours will be held Saturday May 19th from 10 am – 12 pm. Ron’s Funeral Service will commence upon the conclusion of calling hours at 12:00 pm with Pastor Art Preve officiating.
