my deepest condolences to the belt family and friends -Doug became one of the deepest friendships that I had in my life---we spend over 10 years working on building projects with students at seaway tech--our approach to students was totally opposite to each other--there was never a moment that one of us could not reach a student in our classes---a team that totally worked throughout the years--many weeks we spent more time with each other than we did with our families--I have so many memories of our times not at work--the motor cycle trips locally -blue ridge parkway---the auction adventures--the river boat rides on the st Lawrence--countless snowmobile adventures--woodworking dream projects---an endless list--friends that we met along life's journey--Doug was so eager for new adventures where ever went--Doug would only consider his own needs after he was sure that he had helped all others in his life--a milestone met by very few-I surely will miss his presence--thank goodness I have the fond memories--Bruce

Went through 9th grade in school with Doug. I moved away in 1964. Saw Doug in 1965-66 but lost contact over the years. Had lots of great memories growing up with him. He lived life like I would have expected . Great guy... sorry we never reconnected. Sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of working with Doug at Seaway Tech in Norwood. He was not only very well liked by his Co-workers but by Students as well. What a very considerate, friendly and sincere educator!
I ran into him a couple years ago, after not seeing him for over 20 years! He remembered me by name, and was touched when he mentioned he portrays a Adirondack Santa during the Christmas Season!
He not only had that Saint Nicholas look but the personality as well. The wonderful warm smile!
I send my deepest Sympathy to his family, and keep you and Doug in my Prayers.
God Bless
Michele

I am at a total loss for words. Doug and I taught together for 11 years at St. Regis Falls and I am proud to say he was my friend. He had a genuine concern for people and a huge heart. I remember our ski trips to Titus Mt. with the students and how much fun we had. I will greatly miss our conversations and most all, our friendship. He was a great person who touched many, many lives. Rest easy my friend. I will see you on the other side.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of our dear friend, Doug Belt. He had a special place in my heart and always will. I am so greatful for getting to see him a few times last October when he was "home" for his 50th Class Reunion. We shared many laughs, many stories, and reflected on tbe past and future..was supposed to go see him this Summer. I could talk to him for hours. His kind, gentle spirit will forever be missed by me, my Mother, Dolores ("Toots") Corell, whom he drove to the hospital to have me when she went into labor, her husband, Frederick Corell, and my Father, Leo Scheg. All of whom he shared many enjoyable hours with when last here as well. We will cherish those memories forever, as we didn't think itheywould be our last. There's no one like him..kind, caring, passionate, humble and kind..and much, much more..We love you forever Doug...you'll not be forgotten. We will see each other again one day♥. XO

I can say without hesitation that Doug will be missed!!! I worked at St. Regis Falls Central with him and I loved every minute I was with him. I loved his smile, his laugh, and his love of his students, mine included. We had many conversations through the years he was at SRF even after he retired.
I will miss him and am sure my children will as well especially my middle child. He told her while in his architecture class that he loved her house design and wanted to build it. She often mentioned him and wondered if he did build it.
Rest well, Doug.
