Obituary of Elizabeth P. Russell

Brasher Falls- Mrs. Elizabeth P. Russell, 88, passed away on Tuesday August 7, 1930 at the Massena Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.

On April 17, 1930 Elizabeth was born in West Parishville to the late Lester E. and Ruby (Shaw) Pearl Sr. and graduated from Parishville-Hopkinton High School. On June 21, 1952 she married Mark L. Russell at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waddington.

For many years Elizabeth worked for Potsdam Health Services as a home health aide.

She was an avid reader, mostly interested in books about The Old South and the Amish. Elizabeth also enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and would never turn down a good card game.

She is survived by her children: Stephen and Therese Russell of Vernon, Terry “Tork” and Robin Russell of Madrid, and Lynn Hughs and her companion Bruce Taylor of Canton; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and David Smith of Verona; step-sister and brother-in-law, Pat and Howard Gardner of Utah; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her brother Lester Pearl Jr., sister, Mina Kerr, and grandson David Keleher.

Visitation will be held Friday August 10th from 11 AM – 12 PM at the funeral home. Following visitation Elizabeth’s Funeral Service and Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 1:00 PM at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in Norwood.

Flowers are respectfully declined. Memorial contributions in Elizabeth’s honor may be made to Tri-Town Rescue Squad or the American Heart Association.
