Obituary of Edyth C. Phillips
St. Regis Falls – Mrs. Edyth C. Phillips, 95, passed away on Friday August 17, 2018 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Center in Plattsburgh, NY with her family by her side. Edyth had been a resident for 2 years.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Edyth was born on March 16, 1923 in St. Regis Falls to the late Wilbur J. and Clara M. (Palmer) Conger and attended St. Regis Falls Central School. On June 2, 1945 she married Royal A. Phillips Sr. at the Holiness Church in St. Regis Falls.
She was a homemaker and later years she was employed by the St. Regis Falls Central School as part of the cafeteria and kitchen staff.
Dedicating her time and service not only at home and work, Edyth also belonged to several organizations that were near and dear to her heart. She was a member of: Eastern Star, The Rebekah's, WSCS, St. Regis Falls Fireman’s Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary; where she was awarded a recognition pin for her many years of service.
She also served as a Sunday School Teacher, Girl Scout Leader, and was a member of the St. Regis Falls Methodist Church Choir.
Edyth is survived by her son: Royal A. Phillips Jr. and his companion Barbie Fitzgerald of St. Regis Falls, daughter, Beatrice Parks of Plattsburgh; grandchildren: Aundrea Keysor, Lora Parks-Recore, Ann Parks and Lanna Martin, Danyelle Fitzgerald, Zachary Fitzgerald, Josh Fitzgerald, and Patrick Fitzgerald; great-grandchildren; Tyler Keysor, Isabella Keysor, Ryan Recore, and Jake Recore; brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Phyllis Conger of St. Regis Falls; her mother-in-law Letha Phillips of Norwich, NY; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Besides her parents Edyth was predeceased by her brothers, Hubert, Ralph, and Wilbur Conger Jr.
Visitation will be Monday from 12:00 Noon until the time of the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Forest Cemetery in St. Regis Falls.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions can be made to St. Regis Falls Fire Department or to St. Regis Falls Rescue Squad, 7 N River Rd, St Regis Falls, NY 12980 or to the St. Regis Falls Adult Center, 26 N River Road St. Regis Falls, NY 12980.
The family of Edyth would like to extend many heartfelt thanks to Dr. Richard Lacki and all the staff on the 3rd floor at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Center for their concern, wonderful care, and genuine kindness shown to Mom for the last two years; "you are truly special people".
