Obituary of Elvin B. Boulds Jr.
St. Regis Falls- Mr. Elvin B. Boulds, Jr., 90, peacefully passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 while under the care of his son-in-law Gale and daughter Lisa with the support of Hospice of the North Country.
Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Junior was born in Potsdam on November 12, 1927 to the late Elvin B. and Violet (Canfield) Boulds Sr. and graduated from St. Regis Falls Central School.
On August 28, 1946 he married Patricia Parks in Potsdam. They shared a blessed union of nearly 70 years filled with love, mutual respect, and dedication. Patricia passed away on March 29, 2016.
After taking the business over from his father, together with his wife, Junior owned and operated Boulds Garage in Nicholville where they specialized in selling and maintaining cars and farm equipment as well as GE appliances and maple sugaring supplies, to name a few. He was well known as a fair and smart business man, retiring in the late 80’s.
J.R. “Boss” was a founding member of Twin Brooks (Big 10) Hunting Club, Nicholville Volunteer Fire Department, SRF Snowmobile Club, and later the St. Regis Falls Sportsman’s Club; where he served as president for many years. He was also a member of the Nicholville Masonic Temple and supporter of the Nicholville Methodist Church.
He spent much of his free time enjoying family; snowmobiling, four-wheeling, and at his beloved Lake Ozonia or playing cards (taking money!) at Twin Brooks. Juney was also known throughout Northern NY for his famous BBQ chicken which was served for many years at the Nicholville Fire Dept and SRF Sportsman’s Club events. Thank you to all who have kept his “secret recipe” a secret!
Mr. B is survived by: his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Gale Susice; daughter-in-law, Donna Boulds; grandchildren: Julia Boulds, Amy Boulds, Steven Boulds, Vicki Boulds, Hannah McLaughlin Haddix, and Hilary McLaughlin Dembik (Zachary); great-grandchildren: Travis Rockhill, Jennifer Rockhill, Luke Boulds, Sienna and Branigan Boulds, and Anika Haddix, as well as several other children in the family who had the privilege and joy to call Junior “Grampy”; sisters: Phyllis LaPoint, Joann Drake, Carol Boulds, Clorise (Eugene) Mancini, and Paula (Chester) Lawrence.
Always close to Juniors heart was the memory of his wife Pat, and son Larry, who predeceased him.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 – 7 PM with Juniors funeral service to follow at 7:00PM at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Burial will take place Friday morning at 10:00AM at Mound Hill Cemetery in Nicholville.
Flowers are respectfully declined. For those wishing to express an act of kindness, memorial contributions may be made to Nicholville Fire Department or to Hospice of the North Country, Malone.
