Obituary of Irene J. Marsh
Brushton – Irene J. “Renie” Marsh, 84, passed away Tuesday December 25th, 2018 at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls.
Irene was born on October 23, 1934 in Santa Clara, to the late Bert and Jennie (Cramer) Susice. She received her education in Santa Clara Rural School and graduated from St. Regis Falls High School in 1952. On March 14, 1953, she married Keith J. Marsh; a well-matched couple who shared a blessed union of 54 years until his passing on May 27, 2007.
During her younger years, Irene was employed at Warner Bros and the Dress Factory in Malone, but knew she was meant to be matriarch and Mom, making a comfortable home to raise a family and watching her family grow. She enjoyed golfing at Highland Greens Golf Course, loved watching flowers blossom around her home, hunting and volunteering at Alice Hyde Hospital. In the winter, they became snowbirds in Myrtle Beach.
She is survived by her children; Wayne and Christine Marsh of Dickinson, Karen and Robert Hazen, Jr. of Brushton, Brian and Tammy Marsh of Dickinson, Bradford and Ginny Marsh of Dickinson, and Roxanne and Rob Leclerc of Malone, her siblings, Jennie Wait of Malone, Shirley and Harold Mushtare of Edgewater, FL, Jackie Maloney of Aikin, SC, Joan and Kerry Orcutt of Spokane, WA, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Irene was predeceased by seven brothers; Homer Susice, Albert Susice, Francis Susice, Robert Susice, Lawrence Susice, David Susice, and Jerry Susice and one granddaughter, Whitney Marsh.
Her family will receive friends Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. On Monday, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am at St. Ann’s Church in St. Regis Falls with Fr. Fish celebrating. Burial will be held in the spring in Sand Hill Cemetery in Dickinson.
In lieu of flowers, Irene has requested that donations be made to: Dickinson Volunteer Fire Dept., St. Regis Falls Volunteer Fire Dept. or St. Regis Falls Rescue Squad.
