Obituary of Walker R. Crump

Walker was born February 8, 1949 the son the late Lloyd and Beatrice (Gibson) Crump. Years later Walker returned to school, attended night classes and graduated from Canton Central High School in 1997. This was an accomplishment for him, however it was a promise he made to his mother many years go. He married Sharon St. Hilaire April 15, 1967 at the St. Lawrence Church, North Lawrence.
Walker worked as a foreman for the St. Lawrence County Highway Department, retiring in 2002 after 37 years of service. Prior to that Walker was employed with the Norfolk Paper Mill.
For thirty-seven years he was devoted to the Lawrenceville Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid hunter, golfer and a huge New York Yankee's fan.
He is survived by his wife Sharon; three children Norma Mitchell of North Lawrence; Katherine and her husband Scott Sherwood of Massena; Dawn Snyder of Plattsburgh; and two others who he considered his daughters; Teddra and Charles Roberts of North Lawrence and Kirstie and William LaVare of Nicholville. Also surviving him are his siblings; Carol & Carmen Jock of North Lawrence; Carl & Ann Crump of North Lawrence; Roy Crump of North Lawrence; Thiry and James Sauvie of North Lawrence; June and James Engle of North Lawrence; Ramona & Peter Dawes of Holland Patent; Shara (Lisa) & Richard Paige of Norwood; Deeon and Roger LaBier, North Lawrence; Dale Crump and companion Christine Donnelly of North Lawrence and Doyle Crump of North Lawrence. He touched the lives of many grandchildren Benjamin Mitchell; Carla Mitchell & Jesse Socia; Nicolas Snyder; Erika Snyder & Derrek Gale; Kasey and Brooke Jones; Eyan, Zayne, and Wyatt Roberts; Dustin Woods and Dawson LaVare and his little "Baby Doll" Stephanie Sherwood. A great grandson Aden Andrew Gale got to know the love of grandpa also. His extended family of nieces and nephews survive also.
He is predeceased by a sister, Trudy Crump, sister-in-law Deborah Crump, great nephews Randy Sauvie Jr and Trevor Crump and a great niece Tiara Crump.
Public visitation is scheduled for Friday 2-4 and 6-8 at the Hammill Funeral Home, Winthrop
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:00 am at the St. Lawrence Church, North Lawrence
