Obituary of Herbert F. Walker
St. Regis Falls – Herbert F. “Bill” Walker, 85, passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at the Highland Nursing Home with his loving family by his side.
Born in St. Regis Falls, Bill was the son of the late Fred and Pearl (Martin-Clark) Walker. He proudly served his country in the US Army. On July 7, 1959, he married Donne Fye at the Nicholville United Methodist Church with Rev. Hull officiating. They shared almost 60 years in a union dedicated to each other and their family. He was employed at Tru-Stitch and he also guided at the Sunbeam Club and at Dexter Lake during hunting season. After his years at Tru-Stitch, Bill then began his employment at ALCOA in Massena where he was an accessory finisher. He retired after 28 years allowing him to have more time for his interests of; hunting, fishing, trapping, farming, and operating his tractor. He was a member of the St. Regis Falls American Legion and practices his faith at the Free Methodist Church in St. Regis Falls.
Bill is survived by his wife, Donne; his two children and their spouses, John F. and Pamela Walker and Jean and Dan Brockway, both of St. Regis Falls; grandchildren, Travis and Kimberly Brockway, Zachary and Michaela Brockway, Erik Brockway, Mikayla Brockway, Morgan and Brandon Dufrane and Samuel Walker and his companion, Jordan Doe; great grandchildren, Bryson and Addilynn Brockway; two brothers, Arleigh and Elsie Walker and Russell and Nancy Walker, of St. Regis Falls. He was predeceased by one infant son, Brian Walker, and eight siblings.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 pm at the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Bill's funeral service and Celebration of Life will commence Monday morning at 11:00 at the Free Methodist Church in St. Regis Falls with Rev. Colin Smith officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Forest Cemetery in St. Regis Falls.
