Obituary of Donna M. White

West Stockholm – Donna M. White, 73, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend, passed away peacefully Friday, February 7, 2020 at her home surrounded by loving family. Donna was born in Potsdam on May 28, 1946, as the daughter of the late Archie and Eleanor (Rust) Trimm. She attended Colton-Pierrepont schools. Losing her parents in her teenage years, she became a primary caregiver to her younger siblings. In Colton, on May 31, 1969, she was united in marriage to her life-long love, Phillip W. White. During their 50-year marriage, they committed themselves to each other, their children and extended family. Throughout her working years, Donna worked at Potsdam Laundry, operated Austin’s Convenience Store in West Stockholm with her husband and was an associate at Walmart in Massena. Her dedication as a wife and mother was unwavering and her positive outlook and influence will forever remain in the lives of those who knew her. Over the years Donna enjoyed cooking and baking, traveling and reading. She enjoyed nature; spending hours in her garden, collecting shells at the ocean and watching birds and listening to wind chimes on her front porch. She placed family above all and loved spending time gathered together. She practiced her faith at the West Stockholm United Methodist Church and was an officer of the West Stockholm United Methodist Women. She cherished memories of siblings who predeceased her; James Trimm, Phyllis White, Beverly White, Elaine Payne, Richard Trimm and Archie Trimm. Donna is survived by her husband, Phillip White; four children, Matthew and Lori White of West Stockholm, Nancy and Gregory Blais of Baldwinsville, Peter White of West Stockholm, and Marci White and her companion Levi LaShomb of Norwood; grandchildren, Nicole, Abigail and Nathan White, Samantha, Gabrielle and Thomas Blais, Mikayla and Gavin Lashomb; and siblings, Sandra St. Denis of Glens Falls and Paul Trimm of Hermon. Following her wishes, there will be a graveside service at 11 am on May 16, 2020 in Winthrop Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
