Dear Ward Family,
My sincere sympathy to all. If I feel very fortunate to have known John how very lucky for all of you. How you must miss him.
The Ward family and my family have been friends for three generations. We liked the Wards and what they served(Sometimes some of us too much.) I know you "little kids", Margaret Ann, Patty and Mike, are still here but I haven't seen you in years so I do feel that John's exit ends a lot for me and I'm sad.
To express my feeling about John I'm going to quote a poem by Langston Hughes. I loved my friend. He went away from me.
There's nothing more to say. The poem ends soft as it began-I loved my friend.
Love to all,
Mary Jane O'Brien Monsour

It was always fun to walk into Naples's Erin's Isle and be greeted and seated by John. He'd be gone all summer to New York, but when he reappeared at the front Maitre D' desk, we knew "The season" had officially begun. Such a nice man, always interested in the community and the people in it. Joe and I shared many fun moments with the Ward crew.
My heart and prayers go out to you, Maureen, and to Mike and the rest of the family. God bless.

Dear Maureen and family,
My deepest condolences for John. I worked for John for 5 seasons in Erins Isle in Naples. Himself and Mike always took this Irish girl under their wing.
He was such a passionate worker and one of Life's True Gentlemen.
Always remembered

Dear Maureen and family,
I will never forget when about 10 of you came to Morrisburg Ontario to hear me sing to see if I would fit the entertainment bill at Erins Isle. ( What a ball we had ). I was hired and sang there for a few years enjoying every moment. Johnny always requested me to sing Oh Danny Boy. You and Johnny were wonderful to me and my fond memories will live on forever. John was one of a kind. Hard working and just an all around good guy. He will be greatly missed. You are all in my heart and prayers in this most difficult times. God Bless you all. My prayers and condolences to the Ward family. I worked for John as a waitress at the Potsdam Country club for several years during the summers while I was in college. John was a great boss..he was always in tune to not only his business but also the needs of his employees. He always took the time to ask how My family was, and what my plan in life was. Later in life John always remembered me aNd always took the time to stop and say hello. John has always been a presence in the town of Brasher... he is kind of a legned when you think about him..everyone knows who John Ward is! He will surely be missed in our little community. May he rest in peace

Julie and I send our sincere condolences to the family of John Ward. John devoted a great deal of time and energy to his family and to his hometown. The Tri-Town area has much to be grateful for because of his vision and his dedication. To Maureen, their children and grandchildren, thank you for sharing your husband, dad and grandpa with our wonderful little hometown. Rest in the arms of Christ, John. And of course, say hello to your Dad and Mom, to Tim and to Tom.

Very few people ever really fit the term “larger than life”, but John truly did. I will always remember his kindness, his energy, and his positivity. During my eight and one-half years at St. Lawrence Central he visited me many times in my office. I always knew that he would have a great idea that would benefit our students and be willing to put his own effort and resources behind it. His death is a tremendous loss to the community. My heartfelt condolences to Maureen and family.

My husband and I were the owners of Connors Irish Eatery John was a fixture in the restaurant and always believed in what my husband and I were trying to do. No matter how hard it was he believed in us till the very end and we had to part ways. John and his wife are amazing humans who helped in so many ways. They were kind and generous and always smiling. John would come in for his coffee and salad and talk. He will be missed and they both have forever impacted our lives.
Rip John rip :(
