Living in the Fingerlakes I didn't know about Jim's death until now. I did several car deals with Jim over the years. What I enjoyed most were the interesting conversations at the old garage. It wasn't always about cars, I'd occasionally just drop by for a chat. This man had many stories to tell and did so with style. I'll miss not being able to drop over and say "hey" to Jimmy.

So sorry to hear of his passing. He was a good friend, and great storyteller. I miss visiting him at the shop, just to pass the time. The wife and I will miss him. A NorthCountry staple is gone, changing the feel of this place with his absence. RIP, Jimmy. I’m sure the “Sky Captain” would feel the same, if he were still around.

I'm saddened to learn of Jim's passing and extend sincere condolences to his family. Our relationship had its ups and downs, but the ups far outweighed the downs. Jim rescued me and many other foreign car owners from various breakdowns and kept our cars running. He always had something interesting to say about what was going on in our community of mutual friends. He will be missed.

Saddened to hear of Jim's passing. I met Jim when I ended up taking over ownership of his 1966 Volvo 122. From the very start of our friendship, Jim was a "one of kind gem", through his stories, kindness, and generosity shown to me and the continued care of the Volvo. Thinking of his family in his passing.

He was always Jimmeh to me, and was such a pal, such a wit and just someone I loved to talk to. I am so sad to hear this news and that I didn't get to see him one more time or let him know how much I appreciated him in my life. I hope he knew that.
Heaven or Hell, who knows LOL, (though I expect Heaven since he really was such a kind soul under his gruff businessman exterior) but wherever he's heading, get ready to greet the force that is Jimmeh!! <3 I'll never forget the man, he was precious. My love to all of you in his family, this must be crushing. I'm here for you if you need anything. Chelle Lindahl
PS I think he'd appreciate the "candle of love" that looks like a bomb. :-)

Mr. Engels was very excepting of me and my mother when we first came to this country. Josie and I would be hanging out and he would always make sure we had extra money to get a slice of pizza or a snack. I always felt completely excepted at the Engels home. I will never forget his generosity and his warms.

I will always remember how generous and accepting Mr. Engels was to me as an immigrant kid. I remember Pizza nights, when we raced to see who eat more Join in honoring their life - plant a memorial tree
