Obituary of Margaret A. Gauthier

Please share a memory of Margaret to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brasher Falls – In the early hours of our Lord and Saviors birthday, December 25, 2020, I, Margaret Ann Thompson Gauthier peacefully passed away in the comfort of my home surrounded by the love of my children and family. I was in full acceptance of my passing and ready to see my family waiting for me on the other side. My arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop where calling hours will be held on Wednesday December 30 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. For the safety of my family and friends, those in attendance will be required to wear face masks. I was born on April 13, 1943 at Potsdam hospital to the late Theodore and Genevieve Phelix Thompson. I started school in 1948 in a country school and for the first four years was taught by my mother and then went to school for two years at St. Joseph's Academy. St. Patrick School was built and I attended school there until the 8th grade. In 9th grade I went to St. Lawrence Central School graduating in 1962. After that I went to the Alice Mastic School of Business graduating in 1963. I went to Syracuse to work and after two years, I returned home to live and worked for Wally Grandys Nursing Home in Massena until my marriage to James Gauthier, that later ended in divorce. After raising my family, I started to work for the Tri Town Chamber of Commerce and lastly for Partnership in Health Care in Winthrop until my retirement. Faith, family, friends, and fun, the pillars of my life. As a communicant of St. Patrick Church, I practiced my faith daily. What an honor to pass on the birthday of Jesus; I always loved babies, pure joy and innocence Being surrounded by my family and friends was when I was happiest. Whether it be a quick trip to the casino, a themed family reunion, or a holiday gathering, I was always 100% fully involved and you could count on me to bring the fun. I also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary Post #514. Please rest assured as my physical presence is no longer here, my heart is warm and smile wide, I miss my family and friends dearly but will be there to greet you when it is your time. I have two daughters: Laura Ann of Arkansas, and Nichola Rhea “Nikki” of Winthrop, and one son, Scott James of California; one brother, Leland Thompson of Winthrop; nine grandchildren, Nathaniel, Cole, Camera, Hailey, Michael, Brianna, Genevieve “Genna”, Isabella, and Gretchen; many nieces and nephews; four sisters-in-law, Joan Prashaw, Rayona Eldridge Thompson, Phyllis Denio Bessy, and Rachel Madison Thompson. One granddaughter predeceases me, Jessica Maryanne. Four brothers predecease me, William, James, Deland, Bernard and two sisters, Mary Agnes Thompson Ezyk and Helen Thompson Brown. If you wish to make a memorial contribution, please do so to St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls or to the American Legion Auxiliary Post#514 in Winthrop.
