North Lawrence- Mrs. Nancy J. Chase, 73, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday March 10, 2015 at the Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Nancy was born in Malone on September 15, 1941 to the late William and Margaret (Arquette) Garvey. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from St. Lawrence Central High School. On October 28, 1961 Nancy married Donald Chase at the Holy Cross Church in Hopkinton. They shared a devoted union of 53 years built upon faith, dedication, love, and laughter. Nancy's love for life, family, and friends led her to be involved in various activities and organizations. Whether it was her involvement with the Holy Cross Church, where she was a member, or even just her much adored FaceBook statuses, she always made sure to keep active. Nancy was also a member of the St. Regis Falls Sportsman's club, Weller Mountain Fish & Game club, and was an original organizer of the Booster Club in St. Regis Falls. When she wasn't busy with club activities you could most likely find her outdoors, where she enjoyed gardening and yard work, four-wheeling, and playing softball. Despite her active lifestyle, Nancy's family always came first. With them she enjoyed family reunions with Elvis at Wakonda, Dan's camp at Madawaska, and cheering on her family at their sporting events. Nancy had a love for flowers and birds, especially cardinals. She also enjoyed cooking, canning, and rooting for the Syracuse basketball team and the New York Yankees. She is survived by her husband, Don, her children: Dean and Anne Chase of Newport, RI., Mark and Terri Chase of Knoxville, TN., Dawn and Roy Lawrence of Waddington, and Eva and Malcolm Fye of Dickinson Center; her adored grandchildren and great- grandchildren, who were her pride and joy: Caleb Chase, Colin Chase, Christian Chase, Nicki Massengill, Josh Ginsburg, Ashley and Cager Mackaravitz, Jessica Cole, Rylee Lawrence, Delanie Lawrence, Malcolm and Brittany Fye, Hayley Fye, Kaitlin Fye, and Brayden Fye, great grandchildren: Bailey Leclerc, Jace Fye, and Kellan Fye, her sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Robert Wagstaff of Brasher Falls, her nephews: Tyson Garvey and Corey Monette, and her nieces: Melissa Rundall and Sondra Atkinson. She was predeceased by her brothers, Rodger and James Garvey. Visitation will be Saturday March 14 at the funeral home from 2-4, following visitation the family respectfully invites friends and family to join them at the St. Regis Falls Sportsman's Club for a gathering in Nancy's honor.
