Potsdam- Mrs. Rita H. Michaud, 70, of Lake Placid and formerly of Winthrop, peacefully passed away on Thursday November 3, 2016 at her daughter’s home comforted by the love and care of her family and hospice. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop. Rita was born in Potsdam to the late Gordon M. and Diantha J. (Page) Plumadore. She was raised and educated locally graduating from St. Lawrence Central School in 1964 and earning an associate’s degree from Clinton Community College. For many years Rita worked for the former Wards Hotel in Brasher Falls overseeing and assisting in all aspects of the business; as well as for the Ritz Carlton in Naples Florida. She also played a significant role in the delivery of services for Partnership in Healthcare in Winthrop. Rita operated the Saranac Lake Golf Club Restaurant and most recently she was an account manager for American Management Association based out of Saranac Lake. Blessed with an artistic spirit Rita enjoyed all types of crafts; making quilts and silk flower arrangements were some of her favorites. She enjoyed the thrill of going to garage and lawn sales; especially with her family as it was a family tradition every Memorial Day weekend. She also had a love for flower gardening winning 1st place one year with the Lake Placid Garden Club. She is survived by: a son Gregory Michaud of Lake Placid, and a daughter Lori Michaud and her husband Gerald Gibson of Hopkinton, 4 grandchildren: Devan Michaud of Albany, Derek Michaud of Lake Placid, Shannon Gibson of Williamson and Jeremy Gibson of Hopkinton, a great-granddaughter Ava Marie, a brother and sister-in-law Warren and Sue Plumadore of St. Regis Falls, a sister and brother-in-law, Diane Plumadore and Edward Pierce of Sterling and her nieces and nephews, Tara Simms, Dean Gardner, Colleen Palmer, and Sean Pierce. Rita was predeceased by her brother Leon Plumadore and a nephew Kenneth Plumadore. Visitation will be Sunday from 5-8pm at the funeral home. Rita’s Funeral Service and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10:00am at St. Patrick Church in Brasher Falls. Burial will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery in North Lawrence.
