St. Regis Falls - Madge S. Arcadi, 96, passed away peacefully Thursday evening, June 22, 2017, at the Alice Center with her family at her side. Arrangements are entrusted with the Hammill Funeral Home in St. Regis Falls. Madge was born on November 16, 1920 in Dickinson, daughter of the late William and Effie (LaVoy) Hewitt. She married Peter D. Arcadi in Massena on May 20, 1939, sharing their love for 58 years. Madge was a waitress at various restaurants in the North Country, worked at ALCOA in Massena as a Timekeeper; operated Arcadi’s Restaurant/Bar for 35 years with her husband; and was a Rural Letter Carrier in St. Regis Falls for many years. She was a member of the Rural Letter Carrier‘s Association, McCavanaugh Pond Club and the St Regis Falls Sportsmen's Club. Madge was a kind, generous person, with unmatched devotion to being a homemaker and had an unending love for her family. Surviving Madge are her children; Darleen and Lee Roscoe of Dickinson Center, Harry Arcadi of St. Regis Falls, Donna Boulds of St. Regis Falls, Frederick Arcadi of Syracuse, Peter J. and Susan Arcadi of St. Regis Falls and Frank V. and Mary Arcadi of St. Regis Falls, 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 2 great great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Peter, her parents, sisters: Florence Bennet, Shirley Trim, and Mayfred Phelps, brothers: Earl, Clifford, and Herbert Mashtare, Donald, and Dewey Hewitt, daughter-in-law, Janice Arcadi and son-in-law, Lawrence Boulds. Private services will be held at the convenience of her family.
