Obituary of Joyce V. Normile
North Lawrence- Mrs. Joyce V. (LaClair) Normile, 83 passed away on Tuesday October 31, 2017 in the comfort of her home surrounded by her family. Arrangements are entrusted to Hammill Funeral Home in Winthrop.
Joyce was born in Potsdam on February 11, 1934 to the late Noah and Irene (Gooshaw) LaClair. She was raised and educated locally, graduating from St. Josephs Academy in Brasher Falls.
On February 4, 1952 she married Robert "Bob" Normile. They were true soul mates who had a tremendous amount of love not only for each other but also for their children and grandchildren. They shared 65 blessed years of marriage until the time of Bob's passing on September 17, 2017; only to be reunited 44 days later.
Joyce was the Postmaster in North Lawrence, retiring after many of service. She was a member of the St. Patrick/St. Lawrence Altar Rosary Society, and the Brasher Falls Knight of Columbus Auxiliary.
A true caretaker, Joyce was always looking after everyone in the area; preparing meals for the bereaved and caring for the sick. She enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting, sewing, and gardening. Joyce was most happy when everyone was together for family dinners where you could count on good nourishment and a dose of laughter. Bob would always lovingly comment, "She's not much to look at, but she's a pretty good cook."
Joyce is survived by her children: Michael R. Normile of NY, NY., Kathryn and Terry Gardner of Helena, Richard Normile of North Lawrence, Gregory Normile of Coral Springs, FL., Thomas Normile of Marietta, GA., Bartholomew and Laura Normile of Statham, GA., and Donald and Nikki Normile of Canton, GA; grandchildren: Katie and Larry Donie, Kerri and Frank Gray, Sean Normile, Jessica Normile, Korrey Maddox Reksten, Zachary and Wessley Normile and Noah Normile; 2 great grandchildren: Michael J.
